    Flexible Insulation Laminates

NMN / NPN Flexible Laminate Insulation
    Nomex / Mylar / Nomex – Class H (180°C) Electrical Insulation

NMN (also referred to as NPN) is a premium triple-layer flexible insulation composed of two outer layers of Nomex® aramid paper bonded to an inner layer of Mylar® polyester film. Rated for Class H electrical systems, it provides outstanding thermal endurance, dielectric strength, and mechanical stability. Commonly used in high-temperature motors, generators, and transformers.

    Key Features:

    • Triple-layer laminate: Nomex / Mylar / Nomex construction offers superior insulation, tear resistance, and thermal endurance
    • Class H thermal rating: Withstands continuous operating temperatures up to 180 °C
    • High dielectric performance: Reliable insulation for demanding electrical applications
    • Flexible and process-friendly: Easy to cut, wrap, and form during installation

    Typical Applications:

    • Slot, phase, and interlayer insulation in motor rewinding and transformer manufacturing
    • Used in dry-type transformers, generators, and Class H rated electrical assemblies

    Available Options:

    • Roll width: 914 mm
    • Supplied by the cut metre or as a full 50 m roll
    • Standard lay-ups (outer / film / outer):
    2 / 2 / 2 3 / 2 / 3 3 / 3 / 3 3 / 5 / 3 5 / 3 / 5 5 / 5 / 5

Format: outer layer / polyester film / outer layer

Part of our flexible laminate range, NMN is a dependable insulation material for high-temperature electrical systems where Class H performance, flexibility, and long-term reliability are essential. Pair with high-temperature sleeving or insulating varnishes and resins for a complete insulation system.

NMN / NPN vs DMD – Which Insulation Should You Choose?

NMN / NPN and DMD are both flexible electrical insulation laminates used in motor rewinding and transformer applications. NMN / NPN is the higher-temperature Class H option, while DMD is commonly used for Class F insulation systems.

    Feature NMN / NPN DMD
Temperature Class Class H Class F
    Continuous Temperature Rating 180°C 150°C
    Construction Nomex® / Mylar® / Nomex® Dacron® / Mylar® / Dacron®
Typical Applications High-temperature motors, generators, dry-type transformers and Class H electrical systems Standard motors, transformers, coils and appliance insulation
Best Choice When Additional thermal endurance and Class H performance are required A Class F insulation system is suitable for the application

When is NMN Worth the Upgrade?
NMN / NPN is typically selected when:
    • Class H (180°C) insulation is specified
    • Higher operating temperatures are expected
    • Longer thermal life is required
    • Rewinding generators or premium motors
    • Replacing an existing NMN insulation system
