    Varnished Glass Cloth Available Thicknesses

Varnished Glass Cloth is available in two standard thicknesses. Both offer Class F (150°C) thermal performance, with the thicker grade providing increased mechanical durability and abrasion resistance.

    Thickness Typical Use
0.13 mm Coil wrapping, transformer insulation, cable wrapping and general electrical insulation applications requiring flexibility.
0.25 mm Heavier-duty slot insulation, busbar insulation, lead protection and applications requiring increased mechanical strength.

Varnished Glass Cloth vs Polyester Film – Which Insulation Should You Choose?

Varnished Glass Cloth and Polyester Film are both widely used electrical insulation materials, but they are designed for different applications. Polyester Film offers excellent flexibility and thin-profile insulation, while Varnished Glass Cloth provides greater mechanical strength, abrasion resistance and higher temperature performance.

Feature Varnished Glass Cloth Polyester Film
    Temperature Class Class F (150°C) Class B (130°C)
Construction Woven glass fabric with insulating varnish coating Single-layer polyester film
    Mechanical Strength Excellent Good
    Abrasion Resistance Excellent Moderate
    Flexibility Good Excellent
Typical Applications Coil wrapping, transformer insulation, busbar insulation and protective wraps Slot liners, coil barriers, transformer insulation and component wrapping
Best Choice When Mechanical durability and higher temperature performance are important A thin, highly flexible insulation material is required
