    VIBRATION DAMPING COMPOUND

    Decidamp® SP150
Water-Based Viscoelastic Noise & Vibration Damping

Decidamp® SP150 is a lightweight, water-based viscoelastic damping compound engineered for superior noise and vibration control across marine, industrial, transportation and building environments. Easy to apply by spray, roller, or trowel, it cures to a durable, chip-resistant coating with excellent UV and water resistance.

    Coverage Information

    • 1 mm dry film thickness (DFT) requires approximately 1.85 kg/m².
    • A 20 kg pail provides approximately 10.5 m² coverage at 1 mm DFT.

    Key Benefits:

    • Fast-drying, non-toxic and easy to clean up
    • Excellent adhesion to steel, aluminium, fibreglass and alloys
    • Tested to international marine fire performance standards
    • Reduces panel resonance, tinniness and ringing
    • Lightweight with high performance-to-weight ratio

    Decidamp® SP150 Coverage Calculator

Enter your area and required dry film thickness below. The calculator will automatically estimate the material required and the number of 20 kg Decidamp® SP150 pails needed.

Allow extra material where surfaces are uneven, porous, damaged, difficult to coat or where multiple coats are required.

Important note: For floors with varying depths (for example, 1–25 mm), estimate the average finished thickness across the floor rather than using the deepest point. The more accurately the average thickness is estimated, the more accurate the calculated quantity will be.

Note: Results are estimates only and should be used as a guide. Customers are responsible for determining the quantity required for their specific application.

How Much Will One 20 kg Pail Cover?

Already know your required dry film thickness (DFT)? Use this quick reference table to estimate the coverage provided by a single 20 kg pail of Decidamp® SP150.

Dry Film Thickness (DFT) Coverage per 20 kg Pail
    1 mm10.5 m²
    2 mm5.4 m²
    3 mm3.6 m²
    4 mm2.7 m²
    5 mm2.2 m²
    6 mm1.8 m²
Note: Coverage is based on the published consumption rate of approximately 1.85 kg/m² per 1 mm DFT. Actual coverage may vary depending on substrate condition, application method and wastage.

    Brush

    Edges, corners and touch-up work.

    Trowel

High-build applications requiring greater coating thickness.

    Typical Drying & Cure Times

Ambient Temperature Dry to Touch Fully Cured
    20–25°C 2–3 hours 14–24 hours
    26–30°C 1–2 hours 12–24 hours
    31–36°C 1–2 hours 12–20 hours

    Application Tips

    • Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from grease, oil and loose contaminants.
    • Prime steel substrates where recommended to minimise the risk of flash rusting.
    • Mix thoroughly before application to ensure a consistent coating.
    • Allow the coating to dry naturally between coats and before placing into service.
    • Where the finished coating will be exposed to regular moisture or weather, apply a suitable waterproof topcoat.
