    VIBRATION DAMPING COMPOUND

    Decidamp® SP500
Premium Water-Based Vibration Damping for Rail & Transport Applications

Decidamp® SP500 is a premium-grade, water-based vibration damping compound developed for demanding rail and heavy transport environments. With EN 45545 railway fire safety compliance, it delivers outstanding acoustic damping while also sealing and protecting structural underbodies, panels and enclosures.

    Coverage Information

    • 1 mm dry film thickness (DFT) requires approximately 1.5 kg/m².
    • A 20 kg pail provides approximately 13.3 m² coverage at 1 mm DFT.

    Key Benefits:

    • Certified to EN 45545 railway fire safety standards
    • Designed for both interior and exterior transport use
    • Excellent adhesion to steel, aluminium, fibreglass and stainless steel
    • Lightweight coating with high chip resistance
    • UV, water and impact resistant finish
    • Reduces noise, vibration and dynamic structural wear

    Decidamp® SP500 Coverage Calculator

Enter your area and required dry film thickness below. The calculator will automatically estimate the material required and the number of 20 kg Decidamp® SP500 pails needed.

    mm DFT

Allow extra material where surfaces are uneven, porous, damaged, difficult to coat or where multiple coats are required.

Important note: For floors with varying depths (for example, 1–25 mm), estimate the average finished thickness across the floor rather than using the deepest point. The more accurately the average thickness is estimated, the more accurate the calculated quantity will be.

Note: Results are estimates only and should be used as a guide. Customers are responsible for determining the quantity required for their specific application.

How Much Will One 20 kg Pail Cover?

Already know your required dry film thickness (DFT)? Use this quick reference table to estimate the coverage provided by a single 20 kg pail of Decidamp® SP500.

Dry Film Thickness (DFT) Coverage per 20 kg Pail
    1 mm13.3 m²
    2 mm6.7 m²
    3 mm4.4 m²
    4 mm3.3 m²
    5 mm2.7 m²
    6 mm2.2 m²
Note: Coverage is based on the published consumption rate of approximately 1.5 kg/m² per 1 mm DFT. Actual coverage may vary depending on substrate condition, application method and wastage.

    Typical Drying & Cure Times

Ambient Temperature Dry to Touch Fully Cured
    20–25°C 2–3 hours 14–24 hours
    26–30°C 1–2 hours 12–24 hours
    31–36°C 1–2 hours 12–20 hours

    Application Tips

    • Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from grease, oil and loose contaminants.
    • Prime steel substrates where recommended to minimise the risk of flash rusting.
    • Mix thoroughly before application to ensure a consistent coating.
    • Allow the coating to dry naturally between coats and before placing into service.
    • Where the finished coating will be exposed to regular moisture or weather, apply a suitable waterproof topcoat.
