    Decidamp® DC30 – Two-Component Polyurethane Damping Paste
Polyurethane Constrained Layer Damping for Marine, Transport & Industrial Applications

Decidamp® DC30 is a two-component polyurethane damping paste formulated for constrained layer damping (CLD) systems used in marine, transport, industrial and structural applications. Its excellent viscoelastic properties significantly reduce structure-borne vibration and airborne noise radiation across a wide range of demanding environments.

Applied between a substrate (steel, aluminium or composite) and a counter plate, DC30 cures to form a durable, non-shrinking damping layer. Its thixotropic composition prevents slumping on vertical surfaces, ensuring reliable performance for both interior and exterior installations.

    Coverage Information

    • Supplied as an 11 kg two-part kit: Part A (10 kg) and Part B (1 kg).
    • 1.3 kg of mixed DC30 provides a 1 mm cured layer over 1 m² of surface area.
    • An 11 kg kit provides approximately 8 m² total coverage at 1 mm thickness.

    Key Features:

    • Reduces structure-borne vibration and radiated airborne noise
    • Improves internal noise levels in marine, transport and industrial structures
    • Excellent adhesion to steel, aluminium and composite materials
    • Resistant to corrosion, flame exposure and outdoor weathering
    • Low-weight, viscoelastic damping compound that cures without shrinking or cracking
    • Complies with IMO fire and marine safety standards
    • Thixotropic formulation – ideal for vertical and overhead applications
    • Fast application and curing with reliable long-term performance

    Typical Applications:

    • Marine hulls, decks, bulkheads, bow thruster and propeller zones
    • Floors, walkways and raised access platforms to reduce impact noise
    • Earthmoving equipment, heavy industrial machinery and power units
    • Portable generator, compressor and pump enclosures
    • Rail and automotive structures requiring constrained layer damping

Decidamp® DC30 provides a dependable, high-performance solution for managing vibration and reducing noise in critical marine, transport and industrial environments.

Important note: Decidamp® DC30 is designed for constrained layer damping systems and is typically applied between a substrate and counter plate. This calculator estimates material only and does not account for counter plates, substrate preparation, tile spacing, application losses or installation method.

Note: Results are estimates only and should be used as a guide. Customers are responsible for determining the quantity required for their specific application.

How Much Will One 11 kg Kit Cover?

Already know your required dry film thickness (DFT)? Use this quick reference table to estimate the coverage provided by a single 11 kg kit of Decidamp® DC30.

Dry Film Thickness (DFT) Coverage per 11 kg Kit
    1 mm8.5 m²
    2 mm4.2 m²
    3 mm2.8 m²
    4 mm2.1 m²
    5 mm1.7 m²
    6 mm1.4 m²
Note: Coverage is based on published Decidamp® DC30 coverage information of approximately 8 m² per 11 kg kit at 1 mm DFT. Actual coverage may vary depending on substrate condition, counter-plate layout, application method and wastage.
    Application & Installation Guide

Helpful application information for Decidamp® DC30. Always refer to the installation guide or contact us if you require application-specific advice.

    Mix

Thoroughly mix Part A and Part B before application.

    Apply

Spread an even layer using a notched trowel or suitable applicator.

    Clamp

Install and secure the counter plate while the compound remains workable.

    Cure

Allow the assembly to cure fully before placing it into service.

    Application Tips

    • Ensure both bonding surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease, oil, rust and loose contaminants.
    • Mix the complete kit thoroughly before application to achieve consistent performance.
    • Apply an even coating thickness across the entire bonding surface.
    • Position and secure the counter plate before the compound begins to cure.
    • Maintain firm contact between the substrate and counter plate until the adhesive has fully cured.
    • Follow the published installation guide for mixing ratios, working time and curing recommendations.
